As part of my creative process, I build 3D models of my characters before bringing them to the page. Exploring their shapes, proportions and personalities in three dimensions helps me understand how they move, express themselves and exist in the world of the story. The models also provide a consistent reference for drawing characters across different poses, gestures and scenes.
3D character models created during the development of Scraps: Ada Bolts, a curious raccoon robot searching for creative freedom; ECHO, a forgotten machine from humanity’s lost lunar mission; and Victor, a rule-obsessed rat robot of the Order of the Iron Tail.
